New Training Requirement for Businesses

  • As of July 1, 2019, all businesses are required to have training before bidding and/or performing work on public works projects.  Earlier this year the legislature passed ESSHB 1673 adding this training requirement to the responsible bidder criteria in RCW 39.04.350.

 

New Mandatory Certified Payroll Reporting for Businesses

  • Beginning January 1, 2020, all businesses are required to submit certified payroll reports at least once a month to WA State L&I using L&I's online system.  In May, 2019, the legistlature passed Senate Bill 5035 adding this new requirement to the Prevailing Wages on Public Works law (SB 5035 - Section 5).

Project Description

($2.1 - $2.3 million) Construction of a new 5,500 SF pubic works facility for the City of Gig Harbor and related site work. The new Public Works Facility includes office and work spaces, restrooms, and locker rooms. The bldg will be wood construction with a concrete slab on grade foundation. Site work will include new concrete sidewalks around the building, the installation of two electrical vehicle charging stations, new fences with operable gates, and installation of a new sanitary sewer lift station.

Project Description

($250,000 - $400,000) Perform a partial renovation/reconfiguration/alteration of a portion of an existing commercial facility. The renovation consists of the conversion of an approximately 600 sq. ft. area of partially finished storage area and office into a light commercial laundry and restroom/shower facility. Associated work to include general interior construction, modifications, plumbing, and electrical upgrades and fire alarm and fire sprinkler system modifications.


Olympus 1 MG Reservoir Seismic Retrofit

Project Description

($1.6 million) Construction of a concrete wall around the reservoir; Welding studs to the exterior of the reservoir which will be embedded in the retaining wall; Recoating the interior (full recoat) and exterior (spot coat) of the reservoir using a plural component coating system; Constructing a steel ramp and platform for a portion of the new retaining wall; Rerouting of the existing reservoir overflow pipe; Demo of piping including asbestos-cement; Grading and associated site work; Addition of a gutter and drainage system to the reservoir; Replacement of the roof vent; Mods to the roof access hatch and platform; Addition of safety anchor points to the roof; and addition of a safety handrail to the roof of the reservoir (additive alternate).
